A 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after police stopped a vehicle being driven without its lights on in the early hours of Wednesday, July 15.
According to police, officers conducting routine patrols at approximately 4:00 a.m. noticed a vehicle traveling along Beverley Road in Hull without its headlights illuminated. The vehicle was stopped, and officers spoke with the driver before requesting that he complete a roadside breath test.
Police said the driver provided a breath test reading of 64, which is above the legal alcohol limit. Following the result, the man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and taken into police custody, where he remained while inquiries continued.
The incident forms part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement to improve road safety and reduce the dangers posed by impaired driving. Officers reiterated that driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs places not only the driver at risk but also passengers, pedestrians, cyclists, and other road users.
